Event Staff & Set Up Crew


Provides set up and tear down of events at Event Facilities.

Event Staff support for all events types that The Sweetest Events provides services for: 


baby showers

birthday parties

graduation parties

retirement parties

corporate events

funeral repasts 

Event staff is responsible for working as a team, as well as solo, to ensure that events run smoothly. They assist in the overall logistical and operational aspects of the event, and job duties may change depending on areas of need.

Job Details: 



$10 - $12 per hour 

Job Type: 



Contractual - hours vary by projects and orders

Majority of workdays are Weekends (Friday - Sunday) 

Some occasional events on weekdays 


  • Age 16 or older

  • Reliable Transportation 

  • Driver's License Preferred, but not required 

  • Ability to work varying hours and weekends

  • Event coordination and experience setting up event equipment a plus

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 20 lbs., bend, kneel, stoop and sweep

  • Customer Service Experience (preferred) 

  • Willing to travel


  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details

  • Must be organized, a quick thinker and punctual

  • Excellent communication and organization skills

  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines

  • Must be a team player and have great attention to detail

  • Must take pride in their work and provide good hospitality

  • Must be self-motivated and take initiative; increase ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently

  • Ability to follow directions 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and make an informed decision independently.

  • Reliability and flexibility related to work schedule. 

  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies


What you will be doing: 

Working with clients, event designers, event staff team, and the delivery driver team.

Event Staff and Set Up Crew job duties will include but are not limited to the following event needs: 

  • Set-up and breakdown of the necessary equipment for each event. Operational functions may include assembly of: tables, chairs, table settings, tents, centerpieces, displays, balloons, pole kits, and metal bases. 

  • Organizing, packaging, loading, and unloading event décor 

  • Constructing eye-catching and artistic event displays and similar event related responsibilities.

  • Duties may include working at an assigned station such as a photo booth, or serving food at food tables

  • Transporting, maintaining and arranging supplies, equipment and materials in a careful manner

  • Acting as an event usher; interacting with guests in a friendly and courteous manner

  • Providing excellent customer service to our clients and their guests 

  • Dress and appearance are consistent with The Sweetest Events standards including wearing The Sweetest Events shirt, and any Special Event Staff badges or name tags.

  • Traveling to outside service areas; different cities in Michigan (Frequent travel 30 - 90 miles outside of Lansing

  • Perform other duties as assigned
